Information for Abstracts and Posters
To submit your abstract, you must first be registered for the event in the in-person + virtual modality. If your registration has already been completed, simply access your account and submit as many abstracts as you wish.
The participant submitting the abstract must necessarily be the main author of the work and will be responsible for it before the event organization, receiving all communications and having the certificate linked to their account.
If your abstract is selected for poster presentation, it is essential that the author participates in person in the event.
Criteria for Abstract Acceptance
All works must be submitted for evaluation by the Symposium’s Scientific and Technological Committee (CCT), in the form of a structured abstract, through the form available on the event website.
Abstracts accepted by this committee will be published in the event proceedings, presented as virtual posters during the symposium, and will automatically be eligible for awards. Some of these works will be selected by the CCT for oral presentation in the main program of the event.
The criteria for abstract approval are:
Content: quality of the scientific and technological data presented, with clear and expressive results directly related to the proposed methodology and objectives;
Methodology: coherence of the methodology applied and compliance with the formatting requirements for abstract preparation;
Originality: the idea must be original and the work must have been fully developed by the listed authors;
Relevance: importance of the work for scientific and technological development, production, quality assurance, management, and regulation in the field of immunobiologicals (vaccines, reagents, and biopharmaceuticals), as well as its importance for Brazilian and global public health;
Clarity: clarity of the information presented, allowing full understanding of the work carried out
There is no limit to the number of abstracts submitted or co-authored by each participant.
During submission, abstracts must be classified into the following categories: vaccines, biopharmaceuticals, diagnostic reagents, management, and others. Up to two areas of knowledge that best characterize the work must also be selected from a list available in the form.
Including co-authors’ names does not guarantee their participation in the event. If they wish to attend, all must register individually.
Questions and issues regarding abstract submission and poster presentation will be decided by the Symposium’s Scientific Committee, which will handle requests carefully. All decisions regarding abstract acceptance are final and not subject to appeal.
How to Prepare the Abstract
– The abstract consists of a text of up to 2,250 characters (excluding spaces, title, authors, and institution). The system is programmed not to accept abstracts exceeding this limit.
– It must be written in English. Texts in Portuguese or any other language will not be accepted.
– It may not contain figures, graphs, or tables.
– The text must follow the structure: introduction, objectives, methodology, results, and conclusion.
– The title must be typed in lowercase letters, concisely describing the essence of the subject in up to 20 words.
– When submitting the abstract, the researcher must classify it in the appropriate category:
V (vaccines), B (biopharmaceutical), R (reagent), G (management), and OTR (other related topics), and indicate the area of knowledge.
– Abstracts must be submitted only through the form available in the participant area on the ISI website. Submissions sent by fax, mail, e-mail, or any other means will not be accepted.
– Authors’ names must be written in full (maximum of 10 authors). Academic titles should not be included (e.g., Doctor, Professor, etc.).
– The name of the main author, who is submitting the abstract, will be automatically filled in first in the authors list.
– The first author will be responsible for presenting the work through a recorded video, which will be made available to all participants in the poster area or included in the central event program. Instructions for recording this video will be sent directly to those responsible for approved works after CCT evaluation.
– We recommend that the abstract text be prepared in a text editor before submission and that each part be pasted into the corresponding field in the form, ensuring correct formatting (symbols, superscripts, subscripts, etc.).
– The three keywords indicated at the end of the abstract will help clearly identify the subject of the work and facilitate searching in the Fiocruz Institutional Repository. A keyword does not necessarily need to be a single word; it may be an expression, such as: measles-mumps-rubella; liquid microarray; yellow fever; pharmaceutical assistance; impact assessment; good storage and distribution practices.
Authors of abstracts selected by the CCT to participate in the symposium will receive detailed instructions by e-mail regarding poster preparation, video recording, and participation schedules.
Please add the e-mail address [email protected] to your contacts to ensure that communications are not blocked by your e-mail server security mechanisms.
How to Prepare the Poster
The ISI 2026 Poster Exhibition will be entirely digital, both in the in-person modality on digital totems during the two (2) event days, and in the application as a virtual poster. Posters must be organized in the same way as a traditional printed poster. However, instead of printing the final version, it must be saved in PDF format, according to the recommendations below:
– As a visual resource, the poster should prioritize presenting the work’s content through images, graphs, and tables rather than long texts.
– Since it will be displayed on screens (digital totems, desktops, laptops, and mobile phones), the poster must contain information as simply as possible.
– The poster background must be white.
– The use of photos as background behind text and other information is not recommended, as it makes reading difficult.
– Poster text must be read quickly. Therefore, continuous paragraphs are not advisable. Brief, focused research information has greater impact and makes reading more attractive.
– It is not necessary to repeat the full abstract text on the poster, as abstracts will be available to participants together with the poster on the work’s page.
– Authors must provide a video of up to five (5) minutes with a simplified presentation of the poster. Selected authors will receive detailed instructions on how to record this video.
– The preparation and submission of the poster and video to the event organization is the responsibility of the authors.
– The poster must be organized as follows:
Title at the top
Authors’ names
Institutions
Poster structure: introduction, objectives, methodology, results, and conclusion
– Representatives of approved posters will receive an e-mail with detailed information about participation in the in-person event, submission procedures, deadlines for uploading files to the virtual application, and the date and time of poster display.
– If the responsible author cannot participate, they may designate one of the co-authors to present the poster during the event.
– Each poster will have a dedicated area on the virtual platform, including the abstract, poster, video, and space for questions and answers and other interaction formats.
– Authors whose posters are selected must keep their event application profile active and updated and remain attentive to all contacts from the Scientific and Technological Committee, the Independent Awards Evaluation Committee, and other participants interested in learning more about the work.
– Interaction with authors, both in the in-person exhibition and in the event application, is essential to generate public interest, answer questions from the Independent Awards Evaluation Committee, encourage partnerships and collaborations, and increase the visibility of the work.
Specific Criterion for Submission of Abstracts with Authors or Co-authors Working at Bio-Manguinhos
For publication of works by Bio-Manguinhos collaborators, whether authors or co-authors, authorization from NIT-Bio is required.
This authorization must be provided in the abstract submission form by attaching publication approvals issued by the following instances: immediate supervisor and vice-directorate.
These approvals must be requested before works are submitted to the Scientific Committee, so they can be attached to the form.
Proof of registration of Genetic Heritage, when applicable, must also be attached.
Awards
There will be an Independent Awards Evaluation Committee (CIAP), composed of researchers of recognized excellence not affiliated with Fiocruz, who will evaluate posters for awards. The CIAP members for the 10th ISI are:
Cristiana Maria Toscano (UFG)
Daniel Pacheco (UFSC)
Marco Stephano (USP)
Maria Sato (USP)
Matias Melendez (INCa)
Paulo Lee Ho (Butantan)
Telma Miyuki (USP)
All accepted and presented posters at the 10th ISI are eligible for awards, regardless of selection for oral presentation in a plenary session.
The same criteria used by the CCT to approve works will be applied by CIAP to select awardees: content, methodology, originality, relevance, and clarity.
CIAP decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
The three best works submitted for symposium participation will be selected by CIAP and will receive a certificate and a cash prize (amounts to be announced).
Three additional prizes will be awarded to the best works under the Young Scientific Talent category, submitted by authors up to 26 years old (amounts to be announced).
CIAP may also select other works for honorable mentions without monetary awards, if deemed necessary.
Awards will be paid after the event in a single installment by cash deposit to the first authors of the awarded works, with applicable tax deductions, through a Fiotec scholarship.
If the first author already has a relationship with Fiotec (scholarship, CLT contract, or independent service), they must designate a co-author without such ties to receive the amount on behalf of the team.
Intellectual Property and Authorization for Use
Authors remain the holders of intellectual property rights to the submitted works. Submission does not imply transfer of rights to the event organization.
Upon completing submission, authors authorize, free of charge and for an indefinite period, the ISI Coordination to use, reproduce, publish, disseminate, and display the works (in whole or in part), in physical or digital media, for scientific and institutional dissemination purposes, including proceedings, website, social networks, and promotional materials, always with proper authorship identification.
It is the authors’ responsibility to ensure that submitted content does not violate third-party rights or contain information subject to confidentiality restrictions.
Works involving research with humans, animals, or biological material must fully comply with current legislation and ethical standards, including approvals from the competent committees (CEP/CONEP, CEUA, CIBio, as applicable), which must be informed and proven at the time of submission.
The absence of such authorizations, when required, or the identification of ethical non-compliance will result in disqualification of the work from the poster exhibition and any potential awards.
